2nd WNBC of the year - May 28th

We got two boats and three families out for a while on the 2nd WNBC of the year. Ashley and Paul from the Seven C's rode with John and Kayla on Irish Wake.

We met up with Ahoy Madeys (Bob, Christine, Robert and Austin) up near Pace Bend and rode on up the Perdernales to look at property. We checked out a couple of properties and then went up and hit the Madey's keg-erator for a bit.

After that, Casterlin's and Gordon's rode back down the lake to put Irish Wake away.

We stopped by to say good bye to the Gordon's lot in Lago Vista, closing was the next morning. Along the way we also caught a pretty nice sunset.

John even let Paul drive some... what a great night!

See you all on the water next Wednesday Night!

Live from Lake Travis -- it's Wednesday Night!!

Everyone's favorite weeknight is here at last! Tonight marked the official season kickoff of Wednesday Night Boating. Suzie Queue and Irish Wake met up in Castle Cove for a fun evening. Even the dogs had a good time playing together.

The new teak decking looked great on SQ who was back in the water after a good wash and wax. Almost all of us made it into the water, which was very comfortable for this time of year. It's going to be a crowded weekend out here for Memorial Day with conditions this nice!

We feasted on some Chicken Express, discussed the soon-to-be-planned Fogo de Chao evening, and listened to some of Slade's great music. Since travel made attendance light tonight, I thought I'd share a few pics so that you can all enjoy Wednesday, at least virtually!

We'll see all of you on the Lake this weekend!

First fishing trip

At 1.5 years old, I figured Jake was ready for his first fishing trip. With help from vetran angler Thomas, and enthusiastic encouragement from Kayla, we braved the waves in search of the perfect catch.

Here Thomas demonstrates proper technique to a couple of very attentive apprentices. Jake immediately wanted to upgrade to 80-lb test line to "catch a shark" but was advised against it by Kayla who was concerned that the princess fishing pole may attract Ursula to the surface.

In search of big game, we stayed in about 150' of water. We had the right equipment ready -- our sinker confidently kept the bait at least 7' under the water -- prime depth for catching sea monsters and other trophy fish.

Fortunately, our sea going adventurers did far better than their dad did on his deep sea excursion. Even at the end of the trip, without a single prize catch, everyone was all smiles... except for Jake who was definitely ready for his pacifier to wind down from all of the excitement. Dragging the line through open water was enough to wear all of us out!

WNBC Logos?

I'm updating this post w/ the options I've seen so far today.

Suzy Queue is here

Nice job on the blog setup, Irish Wake!

I found some websites that do custom flags - I'll check the price and post here.

Does school have to be out for WNBC to OFFICIALLY begin? I'm thinking no...

Where's the admin button? It would be cool to think about some graphics, pics, local weather links, etc.
I like Slades flag, very cool to hang on the boats for members only!
This is great. I'm in!!

Welcome to the WNBC blog!

The summer is almost here! With a few weeks left until school is out, it's time to start thinking about that favorite summer tradition: Wednesday Night Boat Club. Ah, the joys of weeknight boating. Smooth water. Zero traffic. Private lake. It's a midweek oasis during the expansive work-week desert!

Since not everyday can be a Wednesday, we've created this blog to share stories, photos, videos, and comments from your mid-week boating escapades. This should give you one more (badly needed) reason to think about boating on the Lake during those few moments when your mind drifts to other subjects.

So tell your tales, show your pictures, and extend Wednesday night throughout the rest of the week... at least until Fri night, when weekend boating officially begins!
